    no way!!!

i would not even recomend one part of you list!

this cpu with no fan´s in the case would throttle permantly.

a pci-e chipset makes no sense for audio and gives you a bad latency.

the drives are to loud for my taste.

    what psu???

The sonata II comes with a 450W SmartPower2 PSU, probably why it wasn't listed.

    Hmmm?

Never realized how difficult this might be.....GS3 does not have a sequencer so I need to figure out what I want to do there. I use a VS2480 for hard disc recording and it seems that a lot of people who use software samplers or virtual instruments have a PC DAW and hence...I guess that's where the sequencer is commonly placed?

So maybe I need to check into getting Sonar or Cubase LE versions for the samling ability and than just go with some program that will run on the same systems as those. Especially since GS3 doesn't so well with a sequencer on the same machine?

    So many possibility's....I'll keep lurking!

    Thanks fellah's

What kind of chipset should I be looking for?

    Thanks

Most people would suggest nForce 3..(if you are going AMD)

Generally leads you to 3 boards, Abit A8V, Gigabyte K8NS Ultra, MSI Neo Plat 2.

To correct myself the Abit is not nForce3, but it is still popular..

    HI,

    the case is great!
    the CPU and Mobo suck.
at this point in time you would be nuts to not buy dual core.
the 820 is very affordable, get an Asus or Gigabyte 945/955 chipset mobo.

your drives are fine despite what some people may say.
once they spin up all drives are within 1-2 db of each other anymore.
Seagate, Maxtor or WD are all fine.

    no need for a floppy

and personally i would by an AMD Dual Core.

    Guy's...thanks for responding.

Scott....the chipset and mobo's your recommending are Intel P4?

The reason I ask is that I hear so much about making sure that it's Intel.

If not...is there an equivilant Intel to the chipset and mobo's your recommending?

Computers are so Greek to me....thanks for the patience!

Dave Goviett would tell you differantly.

AMD 939 produces the most polophony.
a standard 3500 939 can do over 600 voices. (layered)

this was tested by DAve Goviett and Tascam (they only did 535 voices)
    and still had room.

with the latest update (well since 3.04) GS now takes advatage of dual core)

with that said any dual core, Intel or AMD will run GS fabulously.

i just wish it would take advantage of more memory.
