OT: Randon-Sample-Hold: How? MIDI or Audio VST/DXi Plugin????

Does anyone here know of a plugin or virtual instrument, or anything for that matter...that will create a random, sample, hold sound during playback input/output?

What I'm thinking here is perhaps something similar to the MIDI FX Arppegiator that comes with SONAR, but that will produce a R-S-H playback pattern. If there's no such thing as a midi plugin, perhaps someone knows of a virtual instrument that can produce the R-S-H sound.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Any of the more elaborate synth plugs should do it - it's just a sample/hold triggered by a midi event; if you use a sawtooth at audio rates for the input wave, altering the pitch alters the pseudo-pattern between really random sounding and something resembling a step sequencer. If you need to trigger some other specific midi event from it, use a gate on the output of the synth...

I believe FM7 or Pro53 will do this; there are also some free or really inexpensive VST plugs that should handle it as well (Arppe2600va, Minimogue etc.)
