No demos have been heard of either one so far, at least not that I'm aware of.

there was a qlegato clarinet demo at the sounds-online forum for a day or two before it got removed, because it supposedly didnt show off what qlegato is capable of. Which is true

What is it meant to be capable of? What separates it from VSLs implementation?

I recall hearing there is no pitch slur with Qlegato.

Well it's pure speculation at this point until we hear demos of both libraries. VSL legato uses interval sampling of each instrument up to an octave I believe.

I think qlegato may use a similar theory but I doubt that they sampled each interval of each qlegato instrument up to an octave. My guess is they used some inbetween noise and placed it as a release trigger whilst cutting off the attack of the following note.

The demo at the other fourm was apparently unprogrammed. How it got posted and for what reason is a mystery as it wasn't very flattering at all.

apparently, what happened was, a guy by the name of Dick Hyman who worked for Quantum Leap productions put that demo together as a tribute for the queen of England, to be played in her honor for her 91st birthday celebration. Alledgedly, Hyman was so thrilled with both the sonic quality, and compositional sophistication of said demo, that his hubris got the best of him.

This is where fact and fiction become a bit tangled together. There seem to be two schools of thought on what happened next. Some believe it was Hyman himself who posted the demo, prematurely, because he felt such a masterwork simply, "needed to be heard" by the masses. Like the caged bird, Hyman's song needed to be set free, it's rainbow emblazened feathers wafting against the wind for all the world to see.

The second sentiment, albeit less romantic, is more than likely the true story. Richard Hyman, according to several of his former colleagues, suffered from a rare condition known as skidmarkitis. Without going into details.... it aint pretty my brothers, it aint pretty. As a result of this malady, Hyman was forced to see a specialist--one R. Rutherford Thackory, M.D.--on a bi-weekly basis. Thackory, apart from being the foremost practitioner of the "flesh flute" in southern London, was a song writer of some small acclaim, as evidenced by his 1997 grammy nomination for the R&B single, "Your Armpit Smells Like a Rasin Bagel." Apparently, when Dr. Thackory caught wind of Hyman's EWQLSO qLegato demo, he murdered Hyman, stole the original manuscripts, and published the demo online as his own.

When Quantum Leap productions caught wind of this rumor, they located the demo online and pulled it, out of respect for the deceased.
