    Live performance? How?

Let's say I wanted to buy Stylus RMX, slap it on a laptop along some other VSTs, and then do a sort of live performance. What I'd probably do is have some preset Stylus loops I've created.. and clips already pre-recorded, so basically when I got to the party/location/whatever, I just have a laptop hooked up to some speakers (no music keyboard), and I can choose my pre-made clips and play them in any order I want.. and possibly even mix and match the Stylus rhythms with the leads.

What software is good for this purpose?

    Ableton Live 5.

I'm sure many others will agree, it's rock solid, and really was made for EXACTLY what you are thinking about. You can set up clips and then trigger any combination of them ON THE FLY -- it's fantastic.

BUT, like everything, you should download the demo and try it out. If you are used to other hosts, it may take a bit to get your head around the workflow of Live -- but I can't stress enough how "worth it" it is... again, ESPECIALLY if you want to do what you are talking about...

Oh, forgot to mention.. Windows based laptop. (just in case someone was going to recommend Mac software)

Thanks, I'll check about Ableton Live.

You could also check out Cakewalk's Project 5. It's basically Cakewalk's answer to Live.

Live is absolutely great for this application, but actually for what you described...ANY host that you cn type in the tempo would work for that application, since everything would be coming from RMX.

You can save your sets as RMX Multis and then call them up that way.

But if you want to incorporate more audio elements like vocals, etc...Live is totally the way to go for the fast approach.

Nice.. so, if I have Ableton Live, I assume I can just load up Stylus RMX as a VST, and build drum loops in Ableton using Stylus drum kits, right? I watched the movie that shows how to create patterns in Ableton..very slick.

Yep...you can build loops with RMX in many different ways, not only using the Kits.

Awesome. I just recently grabbed Atmosphere, very cool product. I think Stylus RMX might be next on my list.
