    firewire mixers/daw

It seems to me that there have been a lot of companies coming out with new firewire mixers lately...the price on the Alesis Multimix series has caught my eye (something like $500 for a 16-channel firewire)...just wondering if anyone has read a review/owns one/knows anything more than I do about them (which isn't much)? I want to be able to record more tracks at once at better quality than my M-Audio Delta 10/10 offers me...much thanks

I've read some on the Alesis but haven't had the opportunity to try one. I've heard their not as quiet as say the Mackie Onyx which I have had the pleasure to use with firewire. Right now I use a PreSonus FirePod that gives me 10 channels of multitrack using firewire. Also, I have heard PreSonus may be working on something as well.

PreSonus has a new "Multi-device" driver that enables you to daisy chain up to 3 FirePods and now enables you to use GigaStudio as well as use the unit as a stand a lone 8-channel unit. You can download the new multi-device driver off their web site free for registered users.
