Kontakt 2 Standalone: Any need for a VSTi host?

If one were to use Kontakt 2, and preferred to go w/out a VSTi host, and felt the 64 channels available in standalone mode were enough for him (at least right now), could he do it without a ton of nighmarish conflicts and stuck notes?

Or is it always best to run Kontakt in VSTi via Forte or Chainer?

I'm triggering a 'samplefarm' PC from Logic and a G4 1.25 Mac Mini. I've encountered tons of stuck-note issues when using Kompakt in stand-alone (no multiple instances - no VSTi host). One-port 16 chan. hardware MIDI right now but looking to move to MidioverLAN if/when necessary.
