All this talk of comparison...here is one.

I did this piece originally in Opus1 and tried to make a EWQLSO Gold version. I obviously could spend more time tweaking the dynamics and fine tuning the EW version, but I did do some so you get the idea. I like the Opus1 version better.
    Note: SAM Horn in both.

It would be interesting to try this with a piece you created in Gold to see whether you then like that version better.

I think your heart shows better with Opus 1 and I can "feel" the impact of your performace inside ...better, with O1.
But I agree ... it would be interesting to hear the reverse test.

I think these sorts of comparisons should be "blind" -- i.e., post "link_1" and "link_2" (et cetera for more if applicable) and then post a link to an "identification.txt" (or htm) file. When everyone knows which is which to start, it cannot help but to color opinions and evaluations, no matter how "untainted" one might think their ears are.

The Opus cut sounds more 'alive' (for lack of a better adjective)...but it's no fair since you 'made' it in VSL. Naturally, you play to the strengths of your ensemble (just like in a real orchestra) and you definitely did in your piece.

Like others said, it owuld be nice to hear a reverse test.

I liked both versions. The benefit of having performance legatos is not neglectible though

Btw. it's not fair we listen to Beethoven's avantgardistic masterpieces with 21st century symphony orchestras, he didn't write for them
