Question Looking for a great Reverb

I'm looking to upgrade the reverb quality of my system - I'm using RTAS plug-ins on Digidesign LE. Presently the best verb I have is WAVES RVerb. Do any of you have suggestions or experience with something better? I've been looking at Altiverb, TL Space, and Song Oxford Reverb primarily trying to compare them. Any idea which is best sounding or are they very similar in quality? Or something else? I'm not a tweakhead. I usually go for presets, tweaking mostly just delay time and EQ a bit. Thanks.

Dunno what kind of music you're doing. I think that would be a consideration. I love altiverb for orchestral music. Altiverb 4 was a non-tweaker's delight. Version 5 is more complex and programmable.

    Hope that helps,
    Rob

$450 for reverb? Are they nuts?

How about this, for free, which sounds quite nice:

At the moment, I really think AltiVerb 5 has the lead. The interface is outstanding, and the IRs are exquisite. AltiVerb is the longest going convolution verb on the Mac platform, and it's been through several very comprehensive updates. There's a very active user base out there creating new IRs. If you need convincing, go watch the QuickTime demo on the AudioEase site.

Additionally, I think that AltiVerb would be your best investment over the long term. It's AudioEase's signature product. I predict that AltiVerb will still be around long after many of their competitors are gone. To date, AudioEase's track record is excellent. I've found their customer support to be wonderful.

Much as I hate Macs and am unlikely ever to waste the money on one ever again, I have to agree with the sentiments about Altiverb. The lack of a PC version is the only downside to running my studio totally on PCs. I have investigated lots of reverbs recently, and W5 seems good, GigaPulse is promising, but AltiVerb still has the edge IMO. If you are on Mac, I'd say "go for it".

Say Heath, does this one work inside GS3?

    Thanks.

The Artsacoustic sounds very good indeed, Heath. Works fine as a VST in GS3 too.
