    EthnoWorld 3, Giga: The demos?

    Hi,

    About the demos.
    http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml...tml?sku=BS-392G

There's no description as to whether the demos are done using construction sets ( loops )
as opposed to actual playable single sampled instruments.

Does anyone have any information about this?

Also: "**PLEASE NOTE: Ethno World 3 Complete Giga consist of Ethno World 1 Giga (BS-306), Ethno World 2 Giga (BS-378) and the latest Ethno World 3 (BS-393)"

Is Ethno World 3 also in Giga?

And Finally ... is this in Giga 2 format?

    Thank you,

    Steve

It's available in Giga. I've just checked the files and they're saved in GS2 format.

The new instruments (I got the upgrade) are great. I especially liked the Ullian Pipes and the Grand Monochord (great to accompany drones with). I'm using the Monochord here together with contrabass section to create a drone for my live Duduk performance: http://www.herman-witkam.com/showreel-duduk_excerpt.mp3

    Hi Herman,

I guess my real question is based on the playability of the string instruments and the woodwinds / flutes.

That's why I was asking about the demos.
Can you give me an opinion on how the demos were created, as in:
Did they use the pre-played loops / licks to create the demos or were they
made from actually playing the instruments using the samples?

If not that can you tell me how you feel about the playability of the instruments and whether it's possible
to get that articulate ethnic feel with the strings and woodwinds?

    Thank you,

    Steve

You can get the upgrade for Giga or Kompakt including only the new instruments, so you won't have the instruments from Ethno World 1.

It's being mixed actually. There are both a good selection of articulations (sustains, staccato, bends etc) and a nice amount of licks (which also learn you something about how the instrument is articulated). Those combine really easy with the articulations. The fiddle that you hear in the beginning of the second demo is all made up of licks for instance, but the pan flute straight after it is made up using articulations.
