Posessed by the spirit of Esquivel?

I wrote this little piece last night. It came totally from left field, and is in no way representative of my body of work in general.

What, Me Worry? - 1.98 MB

I guess this is some kind of Cuban Ice-Capades lounge funk. Anyone else care to try to classify it for me? I have zero experience with Latin music, so any resemblance to an actual genre is beyond my knowledge.

    GPO:
Piccolo Trumpet, Tuba, Piano, Celesta, Solo CB Pizz

    Non-GPO:
    Percussion and organ

I had a lot of fun with the tuba solo!

    Jamie,
I am not sure what genre this would fit in either, but I do know it was a lot of fun to listen to!

Thanks for sharing this sudden and "out of the norm for you" music!

Thanks, Jerry... I'm glad you found it fun to listen to!

It's funny that I my initial feeling towards this piece was embarassment, but it's actually growing on me. Haha!

I really loved this piece Jamie, got such a great groove to it, the tuba was quite a surprising element but cool.

Well,I don't know how you would classify it,but I loved it's quirky nature. To use an old fashioned word it has a Queer Charm.(No innuendo intended).
I enjoyed the percussion groove,a bit like a Steve Gadd Samba.
    regards

Yes possessed == Rappatappa - Ting in percussion brings back vivid memories of the surprise eelements Esquivel brought to his music. Even when over-processed, squashed and compressed for his vinyl albums surprise came through as it does in this piece.

And I was thinking Watchamacallit Esquivel when I opened it -- and found a better piece. Thank you.
