    Mary's Lullaby Completed!

Well, here's the rough draft of Mary's Lullaby. I think this works. It's played through Finale 2006.

    C. Foster,

Compositionally, this is very nice. I love your orchestrations too. Adding "What Child is This?" was a nice intro to the rest of the piece.

Thanks for sharing this - this is a ROUGH DRAFT???? Sheesh!

Rough draft: meaning, I haven't added percussion or the choral arrangement yet.

I noticed you qualified your statement with "compositionally." I appreciate your input on my composition even while realizing the sound of it isn't too smooth. Finale's human playback does a lot to to make it sound better, but I haven't quite gotten the hang of making GPO sound truly authentic yet. I'm not even sure it can be done through Finale. Maybe I'll eventually port it into Cakewalk (Oh, how I long for the days of Master Tracks Pro!!!).

I meant no insult at all. I love Finale, and its human playback, but I know that it is a very nice way for general phrases and stuff, it does NOT read my mind - Once I have done all I can do grapically with Finale, I export as MIDI to a sequencer. I still use Tracktion so I can REALLY customize and have total control over every note and every phrase. The exported MIDI from Finale has a nice start when exporting with HP.
I am looking forward to Overture 4. - where you have all the neato sequencing controls over every note like you do with cakewalk, Tracktion and others. But it is right there on the score.
I hope you record this with the chorus and percussion!
