I don't know if you've been reading other threads about music theory, but here is a good example of why knowing music theory might help. I'm not sure if these pieces you scored for picture or not, but as stand alone, they need a bit of work. The first piece, is moving from Tonic to a form of Dominant and back to Tonic the whole time - it gets dull after a while, adding more harmonic structure would make for a more interesting piece. Try experimenting with it, see where it takes you... keep up the good work.

Heh, thanks but these are actually just re-recordings of older versions. I am considerably better at scoring now, as for music theory, yeah I could use more knowledge.

    Thanks in advance,
The string detaches have the sucking sound on "mornings." Realistic updown bowing is perhaps the hardest and most annoying thing for sampled strings to emulate. I wish I had the magic answer for you but i don't. The choir blended nice on Haliphens Demise.

That's my 2 cents, take with a grain of salt and keep pluggin away!

Detaches? I only used the standard long note patch for that. Not sure what you meant by sucking, do you mean it sounds like it is sucking in, or that they sound bad, lol???

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Yes, these are verygood piece,
I enjoy them very much, in particular Mornings Room.
It seems to hear a real movie score!!!
What type of libraries did you use?
    The strings sound really good.
Also the composition, melody and harmony are really good.
    So my congrats to you.
Hope to hear more of your music,

    Hi Adam

    Nice work!
    In your first arrangement:

I like the way each new instrument was introduced.. It blended very nicely, and added new interest, but the repetitive chord pattern prevented the overall work from growing.

    Overall.. Good stuff!

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah these are old compositions refurbished with newer samples and better techniques. I forgot to constantly change the tempo slightly throughout the entire piece. It adds more realism. I didn't want to stray too far from the original for either since it is for the game and the CEO liked them both very much.

    Roberto I used:
VSL violins, basses, flutes, clarinet, piccolo, harps, glockenspeil
    Ultimate Strings Viola
    SISS cello and 1st violins
um not sure where the vibraphone is from
    SOV Boys choir
    VOTA angels ahs

Forgetting the theory....I thought these were an enjoyable listen. Isn't that what really matters?

    Hardy,

Thanks for listening, I know I need more work on my sequencing and some less repetitive progressions. These will be things I will pick up. I figure I am doing alright for being 20 years old and only 10 hours of music theory under my belt.
