Which is a faster laptop for Audio / Sampling?

You're looking for a laptop to use with Finale, Cubase, and Kontakt. You have 2 gig of memory ready to go plus an external RAID enclosure for 2 SATA II Drives + PCMCIA controller for all those lovely DFD samples...And you dont really care that much for graphics, only having the ability to attach another monitor so you can get another desktop.

    Dell XPS Gen2: Intel® Pentium® M Processor 770 (2.13GHz, 2MB Cache, 533MHz FSB)

I'd buy the HP. The 800MHz front-side bus would be the clincher for me.

This is assuming that battery life is not an issue for you, however. I would only buy a Pentium 4 "laptop" as a desktop replacement. For truly mobile computing, it simply isn't ideal.

    Thanks man.

In all my laptop years, I hardly EVER used the battery. There's always someplace to plugin. Am I the only one?

Seems like the HP is the better deal. Obviously, with these faster desktop replacements, none of them are light. Another question might be to wait till teh fall to see if any mobile dual chips are coming out?
