Angry DP and East West platinum

    Hey guys
I am having a bit of a problem and really hope someone here can help me out.
Why is it that I get latency (big time) when I am recording or trying to record MIDI using east west or GPO or any other soft sampler on digital Performer?
    it is driving me nuts!
I do not get latency or at least not as near as much when I do the same on ProTools on the same system.
There is never trouble with the playback but I do wish to hear the instrument while doing MIDI.
    I am using D.P. 4.5 on a G5 powermac 2.5 ghz with 4.5 gigs of ram.
    Oh, and a digi 002 R.
    Thanks for your time

In Digital Performer...open your configure hardware driver and change the buffer size to something low like 128 or 256. My guess is you have it set on 1024 which will introduce a lot of latency in VIs.

Whenever I am wanting to play a VI I have found the buffer needs to be at most 256.

You can then change back to 1024 after all midi has been recorded into audio and you want to mix and master. This will free up CPU for more plugs.

Red face Re: DP and East West platinum

    Thanks Brian!!
I did bring it down to what you said (256) and it does work much better so far.
The problem is still there but I guess I can live with it now a bit better.
    Thanks again!
