    New Horizons for Brass Quintet

Here is another piece I had to write for Grad School. My professor already has me working! I will be entering a lot of composition contests this fall, so I have get warmed up.

For 2 trumpets, trombone, horn, and tuba in 3 movements:

Very cool! Lots of excitement going on here. The brass sound so real! Wow, what the heck am I doing amongst such talent?
Awesome Jess! Wish you tons of luck on your contests!

Very Nice! I especially like the 3rd movement. Are you going to post scores for these (so we can check out what you are doing harmonically)?

Since I have to get these ready for school, there is a very good chance the scores will make an appearance in the next few days.

    Thanks all for listening.

    Jess,

I'd love to see the scores too. You really have done a nice job using human playback. Nice job.

    Thanks guys.

The more I use Human Playback, the more I like it. I now find the feature indispensible. It saves me hours of MIDI tweaking, which is something I find very boring. That is time I could be composing!

    Jess,

You seem to get the best out of human playback. Maybe you can share some of your tips.

I can't wait to find out if it gets improved in the next Finale.

One might be interested to know that Jess actually used the just released Finale 2006 and HP to create this quintett rendering (as well as the Percussion piece posted elsewhere), straight from notation.

Jess, thanks again: you have been a great, patient, player for beta testing HP and Finale 2006!

    Nice work as usual.
Ok, professors are experienced, and with the internal ear are able to read and understand, but....

I remember how boring was to hear everything sounding on our studio piano, played in real time with acrobatic effort by the professor interpretating our scores, handwritten of course...old good times?

No simply old times, viva the technology, and thanks computer and sampling: now we hear what we write, without the need of real players preparation of the end-of-the-academic-year final show...;-))

And we are now able to select only the best of our production for real executions.
