Anyone using Fireface along with Gigastudio 3?

    Hello,
running Fireface with Gigastudio 2.5 works fine even with lowest buffer
settings, however when I switch to Gigastudio 3 I only get clickfree
performance from 512 buffers onwards (with only one instrument loaded).
I am trying to find the reason for this annoyance.. Could anyone who got
his Fireface working with Gigastudio 3 please tell his/her setup regarding
    motherboard and processor.
    I am running an Asus P4P800 with a P4 2.4 Ghz 533FSB and I suspect that my
processor might be too weak, though it fullfills the Tascam minimal system
    requirements easily.
    Thank you
    Michael

i would switch to a rme hsd pci card, you can use the 1.5ms latency without problems.

i would not expect o much from firewire interfaces in generel. he rme fireface is for sure one of the best firewire interfaces in the market but firewire in myy opinion is not the right solution for stationary systems because of the higher latency and the firewireinput needs some extra pcu power.

Latency is only a tiny bit higher then other Rme devices, so that is no issue for me (48 samples for fireface minimal buffer size).
I am hoping that I can fix my issure with a Mobo or Cpu upgrade, dont want to go back to older Rme cards unless there are no other options.

48 samples is not all, the pc firewire driver/controler has some latency too.

what motherboard do you have? maybe a nvidia nfore board can solve your problem.

Someone mentioned on the RME newsgroup that buying a pci firewire card solved many problems. Might be related to some weakness of the internal 1394 ...

A had a multiface before, and latency is about as good with fireface.
But I never had any problems with multiface and stability, so on this side fireface can't match.
I got an Asus P4P800 deluxe, the P4C800 got good marks from Rme regarding use with fireface.
Thanks for the tip with the nvidia board, I would like to find someone running Gigastudio 3 and fireface and learn what mobo he uses.

I was also thinking about that, though I think the problems with firewire controllers were all related to using the fast firewire mode according to the Rme homepage. The firewire 400 controllers tested were all found good.
