Question Bought GPO - Which rig should I install it on?

    Hello,

My name is Dan and I've been reading the forum for a while and decided to buy GPO. I have two computers, an Athlon 64 3000+, 2GB RAM and a 200 GB audio drive. I have Gigastudio 3 Orchestra and Sonar 4 installed on it. I have a second computer, an Athlon XP 2600, 1 GB RAM with a 300 GB RAID audio drive. I intend to use GPO and GS3 together in Sonar. If I understand the license agreement for GPO, I can only install it on one machine (?). Is that correct, and if so, which one would be best.

    Thanks for any help.

You can put it on both.

Welcome aboard. I'm sure you're going to enjoy GPO.

Gigastudio does rather try and grab all the resources it can, so I'd put GPO on your second computer, especially if you make heavy use of GS3. If you do decide to go down this route, go to http://www.garritan.com/downloads.html and you’ll find some information on running GPO on a different computer to that of your sequencer.

    Hope this helps

Just to expand on Unix Guru's comment, Gary gives allows you to install GPO on two machines. I have mine installed on one of the studio boxes and my laptop.

    You're going to enjoy it.

Question Re: Bought GPO - Which rig should I install it on?

That's good news. So after I activate the Kontakt player on the first machine, I'll still able to activate it on the second machine, too?

Even though you can install it on both, I'd use the 2GB RAM machine as your primary GPO rig. GPO is designed to run within RAM - the more the better!

I originally joined when I started using Gigasampler. I just recently found out about GPO and was interested in the way it uses the controllers for more expressive play.

Thanks for all the advice! This forum is a great resource.

I would recommend having GS3 on it's own computer. Then install Sonar and GPO on the same machine. GPO works great as a VSTi inside of Sonar. You can also install a 2nd copy of GPO on the GS3 machine.
