    The Sixth Day (redux)

    Hi folks,

Well the deadline has come and gone and not a word from the publisher so I assume this project is now dead. On the up side I can publish the piece :-)

The brief was for modern anthemic music in a classical style; no time limit was given, no other stylistic direction was given. The client was the FIFA football association for a theme for the 2006 world cup. I assume the piece will now not be forwarded.

Still, I like it a lot so I moved it up into the general catalogue area. For everybody who already heard it, this mix is unchanged.

Libraries: VOTA, LOP, Kontakt, A90/VE-RD1, mainly GPO though.

Link: John Hawksley - The Sixth Day (7.7 MB - production quality MP3)

    All the best everyone,
    John

Great composition, John Hawksley! Fine use of dynamics and an overall outstanding job.

I liked the guitar sound. From which sample library did it come?

    Regards,

    Larry A.

Hi Larry, thanks for listening; I forgot to list that one, it's from the Yellow Tools 'Pure Guitars' library.

    Glad you liked it

Thumbs up Re: The Sixth Day (redux)

    Hi John, well done!

However, your anthem was maybe too small for such event as the World Cup in Football. The anthem should be big in scale and extremely powerful. Something like you hear in "Zadok the priest" by Handel, which the Italian league has used as it's anthem.

    Anyway, very good piece!
    Sincerely,
    Falcon1

Another brilliant effort John. Your work is always so well orchestrated with a crystal clear and detailed ambience. Your client's loss I would say!

    Nice one!

    John,

I liked your peice. Absolutely grand. Your music is very uplifting and triumphant. I liked how you incorporated orchestral elements with guitar, drum and synth.

This would be an excellent theme for the world cup.

Thanks for posting this. Who knows, you may yet hear from someone about this work.

    Hi Gary, Hardy, Falcon,

Thanks all for having a listen and taking the time to comment. Yep the piece is 'out there', who knows what may happen in the future? :-)

Hey Dan! Thanks man! I need to work on the technique a bit with the guitars, they are really nice samples though. I think a guitar-based composition is ready to come forth, something light a la W.G.Snuffy Walden. I'll try to get some GPO in there too, so I have an excuse to post here :-))

I think the mix was basically just some light compression and strategic eq/spectralizer. I spent the most time messing around with the analogue drum stuff (totally new area for me) :-)

    Best all,
    John
