Really simple.. plugging a guitar into a soundcard

Let's say I've got an Audiophile 2496 or something like that, and I want to plug an acoustic or electric guitar into the inputs, then record that using SoundForge or some other similar app. How would this be accomplished?

You need a preamp betwee the soundcard and guitar. Preamp should be able to accept high impedance signals.

24/96 only has RCA connectors. So your preamp should have those as well.

Guitar to preamp 1/4" in. Preamp RCA out to soundcard RCA in.

If you don't own the 24/96 yet, i'd recommend getting a soundacrd that comes with preamps and a 1/4"/XLR connector (1/4" should be a HIgh z). FW410 is one example. There many out there.

Just saw this one, for example...
