I didn't grow up with him, but he was certainly a unique man, and one of televisions top stars, really setting the bar for talk show host comedians. He was 79. He will certainly be missed.

    He's a legend, I'd say.

HOLY SH----WHAT! Not the Johnny Carson! God, all the nights of fun and laughter. It was bad enough he retired and talk show were never the same. Cripes, I am going to cry. I grew up with him as well. Damn. My funny bone owes a lot to his form of off the wall slap stick comedy.
Excuse me while I morn for one who brought so much laughter to so many people.

No one else has even come close since he left.

I grew up with him, as well...so many funny memories...the goofy "redneck hunter guy" with the cap with ear-flaps...that time some samaurai swordsman cut a melon in half that was perched on Carson's stomach...Carl Sagan and "billions and billions"...

    "really great stuff"!

    Sad news indeed.

A legend which the newbies have never been able to equal on any level.

Bob Hope, Rodney Dangerfield, and now Johnny...a lot of laughter has been silenced over the last few years.

I liked Johnny Carson a lot! Liked his style of comedy, enjoyed most of his guests. . . . used to watch him faithfully for YEARS before he retired. Johnny will be missed. . .

We always say there will be none like the ones before. Thanks for the laughs Johnny.

One of my favorite stories is when he had Arnold Palmer's wife on as a guest. At one point, she said something like, "I kiss his balls for luck before every tournament," and Johnny says, "Well... I bet THAT makes his putter stand up."

I understand that Mrs. Palmer was NOT amused...

Nope, but hey with Carson, she left herself wide open for that one!
