    Competition submission piece

Hi all... long time no post.

I just thought I'd share one of my two submissions that went in to the competition contest. This piece was posted on the Garritan demo page some time ago, but this is a much revised version from what appears there. And in case you haven't heard it there, or want to hear the "real" version, here it is:

I'd love to hear any comments anyone may have.

    Thanks for letting me share,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
WOW. Well done! I feel less confident with my own submission with each other submission I hear. Oh well.

I am still glad I am not a judge for this!

Thanks for sharing and GOOD LUCK!!!

    I LOVE it.
I don't have any nitpicks for you. I was convinced to the point that I saw real players (in my minds eye) performing your piece on a sound stage.

But that's me. Maybe someone else can help you with 'correct' orchestral balance or room placement, etc. Midway through listening, I knew I was hooked. It was speaking to me. It was not designed to sooth my savage breast. It was a daring journey -- an excursion worth taking.

Sounds like a LOT of hard work. Was it? (just curious).

What he said The composition is arresting, and the mix really works this time.

Yes, lots and lots! I shudder even to think of the total number of hours that have gone into this piece. The last 20 hours or so went into the kind of nit-picky earphone burning tiny detail work that no one but me would probably have noticed. The curse of being ever self-critical, I suppose.
