Trio for Flute, Viola and Cello

Dear friends,

Maybe a bit unusual for my doings, but this time I started a trio for an unusual instrumentation. However, flute, viola and cello blend very well together and have a comparable natural volume.
For this piece I used the Vienna Suite with the VI instruments full version. Like always, I used the reverb knob very sparingly, since this small ensemble fits perfectly well in a small, intimate ambience.
This is the first part of what will eventually become a 3-part trio.

Hello Jos,

This is something very different from your traditional inspired music. Much more modern and jazz like for sure with quite interesting playing and interactions between the instruments. The first part seemed like it would work well for the sound track of a movie thiller.

A quite enjoyable musical surprise.

Hi Jos,

Very unexpected indeed!!!

I am all for new instruments combinations.
And they do work well with each other.

The first part had at first some spanish style in it,
but later on was quite modern sounding.

I liked especially the second part starting at 1:26.
That is more like the Jos we know.
But, again, a modern Jos...

Well performed as usual, and thanks for sharing.
Shall look forward to the other parts.

Thanks Phil and Yudit. Experimenting with new scales can be challenging, but rewarding if it is persistent and consequent. It might sound a bit impressionistic but that was not my first intention.
