Those Early birds - Vroege vogels

    Hello friends,

this is the last one before summer. Right now I really must have some days off, preparing the VSL instruments and score for the revision of my pianoconcerto (nr.1). I used several techniques as sliding, portamento, pitch changes. And why not? Prokofiev did this also in his 3-rd Symphony.

    Enjoy and see you again,

    Maestro,

Please visualize me bending low then wildly applauding. Beautiful. We are waiting for your concerto....

Thank you, Ted. It was fun experimenting with those "alien" sounds.

Anybody curious about the scores (and the previous two impromptus, see

Very nice and inspiring.. I really liked the emotional place this piece took me to.....Your birds are much more complex (and a little scary in a place or two) than the cutie on your video.. I also like the humor you injected. I am impressed by the power of the subtlety you used. Seasoned.

The execution of different techniques on the VSL strings is EXCELLENT..

    Thanx for this inspiring piece

You’re showing off some great string technique with this Raymond. I’m trying to figure out how it was all accomplished. I imagine precise manipulation of articulations and a good over-all idea of what one wants to create.

I have to second Ted’s comments.

It sounds like you had some fun with this.

I’m listening to your music sitting on my back deck, which faces a wetlands, as small wild birds hit my feeders. A perfect match.

    Hi Raymond,

You've always been a strange bird. I don't know whether you are an 'early' bird, but one has to get up very early to hear the symphony of spring and summer birds, sometimes delightful, sometimes a vocal battle for territory and therefore more like a cacophony. You've depicted both here in your own crafted way, without wanting to copy the singing birds in every detail. Your 'Early Birds' sing in a more thoughtful and creative way.
    Fantastic work!
