Timpani added to brass section 7/23/18
The Hope
"There is still Hope..." This is the lyric I hear from your piece....
I have nothing but praise for this work. In the mid-section, with the nice brass I am missing a timpani, it is so heroic at that section, that you could consider adding some timpani, I know I would love it.
Congratulation, while there are people like you, there is Hope..

Exquisite. I especially liked how you created 'punctuation' by putting a slight pause, between different motifs. Just like someone writing or speaking. with a "." and a slight pause before starting the next sentence. a nice cue to the listener, to be prepared for the next segment.
I’m glad you enjoyed this one Ted. I’ve been pecking away on this for some time as it seemed my energy was always being directed to non-musical spring activities. The timpani could add strength to the brass section even if only for the end.
It healthy to not give up hope. Hope is having faith in one’s future and the future of all.
But I still don’t have money in the stock market.

Very nice selection with cinematic overtones and just a hint of Vangelis.
I agree with the comments by other listeners. Great interpunction. The second part where the strings start that great rythmic motivs, just a great thought and well developed. It ends a bit abrupt, why not repeating the first few bars?
Besides that I loved the piece. Great.

Regarding the pauses.. I've certainly heard and like when pauses are used in a piece; they are always effective. But i can't remember ever hearing someone use them, so consistently, the way you did in this piece.. A very 'viable' technique.. I've heard some speakers who do this.. Lower the pitch of the last syllable of the last word of the sentence; then pause.... then continue. It creates another rhythm and 'mood' for the piece. It makes a 'read between the lines' comment, and is a cue for the listener to digest, and ponder what they just heard.. Subtle and excellent idea..
