    Frenetic Frolic Heavily Revised

Mp3 presently located at Box Net. About 7 minutes of frantic piano, variations, sort of. Gets a bit loud, so use caution with your volume settings.

Revised version uploaded today, 4 Feb. Most apparent change is the formerly 2 voice contrapuntal section. But overall, most staccato has been removed. Link remains the same.

    Hi Richard,

Interesting and varied piano work. To me it sounds at certain moments a bit jazzy, but I'm not a specialist, it's probably due to the compound chords. Well done!

Well, if it is jazzy, it is not intentional. I am not particularly fond of jazz. and don't know much about it. But I certainly admit to the compound chords, which can be tricky at times. I really don't know how to describe the style or techniques of this (or much of my work) other than to say it is pure me, can't share the blame. Mostly, I can not determine the key, since the tonality slides around so much. When I was actively performing, my piano playing was similar, unless I was accompanying a singer or group, in which case I followed the score as precisely as I could, depending on the soloist's peculiarities. As an aside, I found it quite difficult to accompany if I could not feel the singer's breathing.

    Hello Richard.

I agree with Max that it had some jazz feel to it or at least a dance like rhythm. I could imagine being used with a modern dance performance. It was also one of your more accessible pieces for me.

    Enjoyed it!

Yes, nice.. I think the complex (compound) chords give it a jazz feel, or the description avant-guard. The chords are very rich, the insistent chords and rhythm, somewhat move away from jazz (well at least to me).. No matter what terminology one wants to use.. it is an intriguing piece.
