Hello,
coming back to you with a new choir piece that started out as a simple good wish, a poetic line (that later became the title of the piece). Those few words then inspired a whole poem that I wrote (normally I never do this) and afterwards I wanted to set them to music. The song is of memories, fond feelings, joyful times.. of great things that were and could be again - in the (musical) colours and shades of autumn and winter.
The original lyrics are in Estonian, but here's a rough English translation:
* * *
I come to a stop - the colours and winds of fall
have gone. The leaves on the heath cannot be seen..
Yet in my soul I hear a call
of a day that lightly gleams,
when a squirrel suddenly caught sight - on the treetops -
of two travellers on an alley. And today - likewise..
when on the road in auburn shades time stopped
and there shone all September in your eyes.
November then came with snow, all white..
tracks on the drift going into forever in the distance.
Thus I smile, sing our songs and glide..
sing songs that carried us on the wings of birds far
into the open, where the evening in all blue will shine
Have a good, quiet.. warm night.
Here's the demo, which uses Alicia's Keys piano and VSL Strings.
