Hi all, I\'m choicing a mobo for my new computer and many quotations include a mobo from Gigabyte.

Are those boards reliable and good?

    <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Hi Falcon

It depends on what soundcard you will be running with this system. So many chipsets and MOBO might work for someonelse, but not for you. Give us some ideas on specs on your Audio side, then I can help.

On the AMD side I have hear good things on the ASUS a7n8x.

Gigabyte, my brother loves that brand, I myself do not have much experience with Giga. Anyone here give more details on Gigabyte?

    Thanks

    Dave

I\'ll most probably use Echo Mia or Gina. Also I\'ll use Intel P4 2.4Ghz

    <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Falcon that P4 2.4 is that the c series that support 800mhz FSB or is it 533 FSB?

Do you want to use a Serial ATA harddrive or IDE?

    Re: OT: mobo question

The cpu is a 800mhz FSB with 512k cache.

    I\'ll most probably use 2x WD 120GB S-ATA 7200rpm 8mb buffer.

An inexpensive alternative to the ASUS A7N8X is the Epox 8RDA+. I own that board and I must say, it ROCKS. $83 on http://www.newegg.com

Just got offer which contains this mobo: MSI 865PE NEO2-S

    Any comments on this mobo?

Also, isn\'t 1.5Gb DDR RAM enough to run most libs out there?

    Thanks!

Falcom - I\'ve got 6 Gigabyte AMD mobys here so thumbs up from me:-
4 x GA7VAX (VIA KT400 chipset) and 2 x GA7DX (AMD761 chipset) - never had any problems with any of them. I\'m using all RME cards.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Re: OT: mobo question

I\'m using ASUS P4C800 and MSI NEO FSI 2 boards here, the Ausus board runs lil better but the MSI board came with a whole buncha extra cables that made life easier. I really enjoy the Asus board no problems at all. Might check Pricegrabber.com I got mine for about $150 free 2 day shipping. Might be cheaper now, I\'ve been using mine for 2 months.
    Cheers

    Seth

PS I\'ll be away for training for 3 weeks but when I return I have 2 new tracks I\'ll finally post for you, I just want to try using the new version of Vota to smooth it out.
