Warning on giga conversion. A trial: Eastwest Steinway B
Here\'s my experience with a Steinway B library:
EastWest Steinway B apparently was imported OK in Kontakt. But...
There was something strange in the sounds. Not very much apparently audible but definitively not ok.
I heard something like a feedback in the played samples.
I think I\'ve found out.
EW Steinway B is 3 velocity groups x 2 (pedal up and down).
Since 3 is not a power of 2, due to giga dimension structure, there is an empty dimension.
In kontakt Pedal up and down groups were translated ok.
But the empty group of giga version ended in a group assigned with the full range of velocities.
So kontakt had 2 (out of 4) groups each of which had 1 correct zone (with specific velocity range) and another zone partially overlaying the first with vel range 1-127.
So there were two samples triggered at the same time with the same key down event. This caused the feedback sensation.
Fixing it was simple. I just deleted the zone with vel range 1-127 in groups 2 and 4 (or 1 and 3? I don\'t remember).
It seems anyhow there is a problem in converting giga instruments with an uneven number of dimension.
