Re: Prosonus Instrument List

Thanks a lot for doing this CraigDuke!

It looks like it\'s got the same material as the AKAI library, but I believe it is the keyswitching that makes it unique. I\'m also guessing that the samples are longer before they looped and that some samples are also chromatically recorded, since space is no longer an issue that is.

But basically it looks like the same old library Thanks a lot again.

For those looking for a starter library by the way, or even more samples to the latest stuff, be aware that even \"the same old library\" was a very good one!

    Re: Prosonus Instrument List

Actually sonically there is a night and day difference between the two. All the samples on the giga version were cleaned up, re eq\'d, and ambient release triggers were added to everything. The guys that played it at NAMM who also had the AKAI version could not believe the difference.

Also, don\'t hold me to this, but I think Big Fish will swap out your old AKAI version for the giga version.

    Re: Prosonus Instrument List

Additional Info: For many instruments, there are sets of 5 or 10 playing effects that can be accessed with notes that are out-of-range for the instrument. These effects are not indicated in the above list. The violin section, for instance, includes some interesting non-unison, non-notatable effects that can best be described as something out of a Hitchcock/Bernard Herrmann movie.

Question: Is this library similar in scope/size to other full orchestra giga libraries e.g. AO?

Celli Section: [snip] Sec Col Leg/Piss Snap KeySw, [snip] Section Piss, [snip]
<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">I wonder how the cellists played these particular articulations. Perhaps they were just mad at the director. Or maybe the names refer to how the cellists were recorded (wet vs. dry). Perhaps the players were snockered. Could these be FX patches? OK, I\'m done.

This reminds me of a Santa Barbara sportscaster who boldly announced \"Today, at the Grand Pee . . . .\"

Not only is it difficult to sync the attacks but just getting everyone playing at the same time ... These articulations are so difficult, many players will practice them during intermission. Modern composers will often replace \"Con Leg\" with \"On Leg\" if they are scoring for amateurs (Oww!). The result often sounds sloppy but that Depends. I\'m done too - though not a new low. Thanks for bringing this to our attention

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Good point. I just got the Prosonus Orchestra yesterday, and it covers a LOT of instruments. It\'s a great value (meaning if sounds good and its price appeals to us cheapskates)considering all the instruments included.
