Re: Opus 1 Articulations

Both lib\'s are about the same price unless you get in quick to order Opus 1.

Opus 1 is twice as large at 30gig. EWQLSO Gold is 15gig.

Mind you, EWQLSO having its own playback engine is very attractive too.

    Too many options!!

Oh boy, that sure is an interesting list.

Why did I first have to buy AO, GOS, LOP, DDSB, DDSW, the Sammers, etc. doh... I used to think that sample libraries kept their monetary value for quite a few years, but this sure feels like South American level inflation to me

    Re: Opus 1 Articulations

Are the instruments from Opus 1 the same as the ones in VSL?

    <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Is there some kind of time-limited special offer on Opus 1? I missed that.

Cos you wanted the best that was then available and they are still awsome librarys.

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">What\'s also nice about Opus 1 being so expansive is that because it has articulations that the First Edition doesn\'t have, VSL is giving FE owners a bunch of new articulations for free. This is in addition to the new instruments and articulations they already decided to give us after the Pro Edition came out. First Edition owners should see the VSL forum for details. VSL is one first class company.

I wouldn\'t worry about this. Bigger libraries just mean more loading time. It\'s all about the tone of the instruments, the articulations/programming and the style of play. (Not to say that I\'ve determined which demos I like better. Besides, tone and style are personal preferences.)

    Re: Opus 1 Articulations

Some more information I found on VSL Opus 1:

    - Some of the instruments are blended into the same file (bass clarinet and clarinet, bassoon and contrabassoon, trombone and bass trombone).

    - \"We didn\'t reduce the dynamic layers. To keep the sample amount low, we decided to map mainly whole tone scales. That also enables you to load more articulations into one engine. But we didn\'t want to reduce the expression possibilities of the instruments. Therefore no velocity layer reduction.\" (statement from Herb on the VSL forum)

Can anybody tell me if EWQLSO (particularly the Gold Edition) is sampled chromatically? And what about velocity layers, crossfading programs, auto-alternation and so on?
